10 feared dead in dawn accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

At least ten persons died in a dawn accident involving a truck and a Toyota bus in Oniworo area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Florence Okpe, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the accident, which happened around 4.30 a.m., on Saturday.

The accident also left two other persons with varying degrees of injuries, while seven came out of the wreckage unscathed.

Witnesses said the driver of the Toyota bus, with registration number KLD-539-XA, lost control.

In the process, he rammed into the rear of an unmarked Mack container truck packed by the roadside.

Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to road obstruction on the part of the truck and speeding by the driver of the Toyota bus.

”The crash involved a total of 19 people, with 13 male and six female,” she said.

She said that the rescuing team took the injured victims to a private hospital in Ogere for medical attention.

They also deposited the remains of the dead at a morgue in Ipara.
