Lebanon-based Hezbollah says seven of its fighters died, on Friday, describing them as being “martyred on the road to Jerusalem”.
A Hezbollah official and a Lebanese security official confirmed that the fighters died in an Israeli airstrike in Syria.
The news follows Syrian news outlets reporting, on Friday, that Israel had conducted airstrikes in the central province of Homs.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah said it fired an anti-tank missile toward Menara in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon.
The Israeli army confirmed the attack. It said it retaliated by striking the source of the fire on the Lebanese side of the border.
The local media also reported Israeli strikes in the southern towns of Mays al-Jabal and Ramia.
Hezbollah Chief, Hassan Nasrallah, is set to make a public address on Saturday, his second since the Israel-Hamas war started.
As the war entered its second month this week, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said, on Friday, that the Palestinian death toll in Gaza had reached 11,078, including 4,506 children.
At least 80,000 Palestinians fled to the southern part of the enclave on Thursday, according to COGAT, the Israeli Defense Ministry agency that coordinates with Palestinians on civilian affairs.

The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza said earlier that Israel struck the Al-Shifa hospital’s courtyard and obstetrics department, according to the Associated Press.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment. But it alleged that Hamas has a command centre under the hospital.
They claimed the centre was the largest in the Gaza Strip. Hamas and hospital staff, however, deny the claim.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hosted Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Cairo.
The two discussed the ongoing war in Gaza and ways to end it, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
On Thursday, the CIA and Mossad chiefs met in Doha with the Qatari Prime Minister to try to make progress on a hostage release deal.
On Friday, a massive rocket barrage fired from Gaza toward Tel-Aviv injured two people.
The Israeli Defence Force claimed on Thursday that enemies had fired 9,500 rockets at Israel since the war started.
It added, on Friday, that it had attacked more than 15,000 Hamas targets since the war began. (al-monitor.com)
