Adesokan, patriotic, straight-forward diplomat – Dabiri-Erewa

Abike Dabiri-Erewa Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has described the late foremost diplomat and defence analyst, Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan, as a true patriot, honest straightforward and trustworthy person.

In a condolence message sent to the family of the Adesokan in Ibadan, the NIDCOM boss said the global community and Muslim community in Nigeria will miss his wisdom and counsel.

Dabiri-Erewa recalled that despite the fact that she had never met the late President of the Nigeria Society of International Relations, he had critically assessed NiDCOM after one year of its existence.

“And had given the Commission encouraging and inspiring accolades, urging it not to rest on its oars.

“It is indeed sad and painful that Nigeria will lose such a good man when the country needed his words of wisdom more during this challenging period.

“May Allah be with the family and the community he left behind, forgive his shortcomings and reward him with Al-Jannah Firdaus,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

Omooba Rasheed Adesokan, a veteran of Nigeria’s Civil war as a soldier, died at UCH Ibadan after a brief illness on Saturday, March 25 at the age of 75 years.

Before his death, he was the Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, Baale of Bodija Community and Director General of the Centre for Islamic Information and Youth Development in Ibadan, Nigeria.
