The Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Dr Somtochukwu Udeze, has congratulated former Secretary-General to the Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, on the occasion of his 91st birthday.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Emma Madu, on Friday in Awka, Udeze described Anyaoku as the pride of the African nations at the international community due to his quality service.

“I felicitate with Chief Emeka Anyaoku on his 91st birthday.

”He discharged his duties at the Commonwealth of Nations creditably and was recognised by various organs of the international community.

“Chief Anyaoku also played advisory roles in Nigeria and Anambra State in particular. He used his wealth of experience to advance good governance.

“Despite his foreign engagements and education, he remained a true Igbo man and illustrious son, as the 19 communities in Idemili honoured him with the chieftaincy title ‘Ugwumba Idemili’,” the Speaker said.

He prayed that God continue to strengthen Anyaoku and give him longevity.

Udeze urged Nigerians to emulate his outstanding personality by making a good name in their various endeavours.
