Lagos, Feb. 4, ’25 (TNZ) The Odimma Orsu Initiative (OOI), a social-cultural group, has urged the government to maintain military action in Orsu and its surrounding areas to flush out criminal elements in the area.
TheNewsZenith reports that the group made the appeal while addressing a World Press Conference, on Tuesday in Lagos.
The group said most killings occurred in Awoidemiri, Amankwo, Amanaogu Autonomous Community Ihitenansa clan and Umuhu in Imo State.
Speaking at a World Press Conference in Lagos, the group’s chairman, Chief Chukwudi Okparaku, highlighted the devastating impact of alleged killings and destruction.
He alleged that IPOB and ESN carried out the attacks in the region.
Calling for urgent action, Okparaku, recounted major attacks in Awo-Idemili and Amannachi.
He listed some of the recent atrocities as the murder of security personnel and looting.
It also included the burning and destruction of homes belonging to prominent indigenes and the killing of Felix Obodoechi (a.k.a. Matador) in Orsu Ihiteukwa.

Onyeoma Ezeifedi, a member of the Security Committee, called on the government to help destroy Udeke Valley. Ezeifedi said the valley is a base for criminals.
“Burn it, take it to ground zero,” TheNewsZenith quotes Ezeifedi as pleading.
Need for Stronger Government Intervention
Meanwhile, Emeka Ezeh, Media and Publicity Officer of OOI, said local communities in Imo and Anambra states were collaborating with both state governments to address the situation.
“We need heavy bombardment of security-challenged areas and a detailed house-to-house check to fish out criminals,” Ezeh said.
The group stressed that only sustained military operations and a long-term peace strategy can restore security and break the cycle of violence.
OOI called on the federal government to help clear all Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs ) in the area and provide lasting security measures to protect the people.
