A socio-cultural group, “Assembly of Edo Patriots” (AEP) says it will fund the nomination of ex-Federal Permanent Secretary, Dr Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, for Edo Gubernatorial race on the platform of the APC.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday in Benin City said Umakhihe was best qualified as APC candidate.

This is because of his pedigree as seasoned bureaucrat, honest and transparent dispositions towards governance.

The Assembly’s Co-ordinator, Dr Oziegbe Obanor, said Umakhihe stood shoulder taller that all other aspirants by his background as a chartered accountant.

”He was also a federal permanent secretary, who successfully oversaw official affairs in more than four key ministries before recently retired,” Obanor stated.

He described Umakhihe as an eminent ‘homeboy’ of Edo State, who never lost touch with the grassroots.
