Ilorin, Feb. 27, ’25 (TNZ) The Kwara State Government launched a coding and digital literacy training programme for 50 public primary and junior secondary schools, across the state, on Wednesday.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital and Innovation organised the programme.
Flagging off the programme, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq said the training aimed to strengthen education sector investments.
A Senior Adviser to the Governor on Digital and Innovation, Alh. Sa’adu Salau represented the Gov. Abdulrazaq at the event.
The governor noted that the initiative targets 150 students in each of the 50 schools for the pilot scheme.
“We are faced with the reality of the digital revolution. Today marks the start of digital literacy training in 50 Kwara schools.
“We hope to lay the foundation for a digital society, ensuring Kwara’s children are not left behind globally,’’ TheNewsZenith quotes the governor as saying.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital and Innovation remarked that the programme aims to keep students updated in the digital world.
“It’s crucial they get digitally literate to solve community problems using technology. Without this knowledge, solving problems is impossible,’’ he said.
According to him, 15 schools from Kwara Central, 13, from the North and 22 from the South are benefiting from the pilot training.
Ishola revealed that the programme would expand after a data-driven assessment.
Mrs Akanbi Janet Ayoola, Principal of Bishop Smith College (Junior Session), commended the state government for the initiative.
Ayoola said the project was one of the best decisions for the era of technology and artificial intelligence. (TNZ)
