
………Intercepts 75 bags of pangolin

Lagos, July 14, ’25 (TNZ) The Customs Area Controller, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMA) generated N97.1 billion in the second quarter of the year.
TheNewsZenith reports that Comptroller Michael Awe, in charge of the command, announced the figure at a news conference in Lagos.
Awe highlighted the command’s improved revenue performance compared to the second quarter of last year, which stood at N80.3 billion. This showed an increase of N276.9 million.
The comptroller said the 20.92 per cent revenue rise reflected the command’s improved operational strategies and stakeholder compliance.

He thanked all importers, exporters, and clearing agents for their continuous support towards achieving revenue targets.
Awe also reviewed the command’s operations against smuggling activities in the last six months, saying his men intercepted various goods with the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N18.3 million.
“Other intercepted items in the period under review include 20 pieces of Ballistic Helmets with the duty paid value of N2.6 million, 75 bags of pangolin scales weighing 3,765kg valued at N772.3 million.
“The total Duty Paid Value of these seizures stands at N792.7 million,” TheNewsZenith quotes Awe as saying. (TNZ)
