Awka, Aug. 2, ’25 (TNZ) The wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called on well-meaning individuals to respond to the needs of vulnerable persons in the society.
TheNewsZenith reports that Mrs Soludo made this appeal during her visit to hospitals in the state, where she settled the medical bills of 200 patients.
She, as the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, gave the gesture to mark her 55th birthday.
The beneficiaries were from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, and the General Hospital in Okpoko.
She warmly engaged with the patients, offering prayers and also gave financial support.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Soludo expressed her belief that genuine leadership is grounded in service, making a positive difference and showing compassion toward others.

She said it has long been her tradition to mark her birthdays by visiting hospitals and homes for the less privileged instead of hosting parties.
“I urge political leaders and compassionate individuals to take time to bring joy to the vulnerable in our society, regardless of how small the gesture.
“Making someone smile often costs nothing; sometimes, just being present is enough. Even helping an elderly woman find a place to rest is an act of love.
“Each year, I dedicate my birthday to spending time with the sick, the motherless, and the vulnerable. It’s my way of touching lives in whatever way I can.
“For me, this reflects the true meaning of human existence —showing love, offering hope, and bringing smiles to people’s faces.
“Bringing happiness to others is my greatest source of joy, and that is all I need to feel fulfilled,” she added. (TNZ)
