NDLEA nabs wanted Chadian with 4 tons of drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has nabbed a wanted drug kingpin in connection with an attempt to ship four tons of illicit drug consignment to the United Kingdom.

The NDLEA said, in a statement, that its operatives men arrested the suspect, a Chadian national “through interdiction operations, leading to the seizure of four tons of illicit substances”.

It said the suspect (name withheld) has been on the agency’s wanted list of the Agency since Sept. 15.

He allegedly concealed a consignment of 1.500kg skunk in flour going to London.

But NDLEA men intercepted the consignment at the SAHCO Export Shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA Lagos.

The operatives also arrested the suspect’s freight agent (name withheld).

It said the suspect walked into the agency’s dragnet on Thursday, Sept. 28 when he personally brought another tranche of 2.00kg of a substance concealed in cartons to the airport for shipment to the UK.

Interview, the suspect allegedly claimed he was “into shoe dealer in Lagos before venturing into the illicit drug business”.

In Lagos also,NDLEA operatives stormed the notorious Idi-Oro drug enclave in Mushin where they seized 212.5 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, on Saturday, Sept. 30.

According the the agency, the seized consignment belong to a wanted drug lord.

The agency’s operatives attached to the Federal Capital Territory Command also intercepted a container truck, carrying 1,188 kilogrammes of skunk, on Friday, Sept 29.

The truck, with registration number BD G41 XM coming heading to Kano from Lagos, was intercepted at Gwagwalada, FCT.

“No less than 1,188 kilograms of skunk loaded at Owo, Ondo state and hidden under cartons of toothpaste were recovered from the truck. Operatives arrested the 28-year-old driver of the truck (name withheld).

Also in Kano, the agency arrested a septuagenarian on Saturday, Sept. 30 with 143.2 kilogrammes of skunk in Dindere village, Tofa LGA.

In the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, the Police Command in Plateau State arrested four suspects with 1,978 kilogrammes of cannabis and transferred them to NDLEA.
