Niger’s President honours on 4 Nigerian governors

President Mohamed Bazoum of Niger Republic has honoured Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State with one of the country’s highest national awards.

The governor’s media aide, Malam Yahaya Sarki, stated in Birnin-Kebbi, on Monday, that the neighbouring country bestowed the ‘Award of Excellence’ on Bagudu in Niamey on Saturday.

Sarki added that the award was in recognition of Bagudu’s outstanding contribution to the socioeconomic development of both countries.

““President Bazoum acknowledged the immense contributions of Gov. Bagudu to the promotion of sustainable peaceful co-existence between the people of Nigeria and Niger.

“He also honoured Gov. Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger, Governors Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe and Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State.

On the list of Nigerian awardees is also Alhaji Babagana Kingibe, former Minister of External Affairs at the ceremony.

“Other Nigerians honoured were Alhaji Hassan Tukur and Alhaji Dahiru Mangal.

While Tukur is a former Personal Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and Mangal is a business tycoon.

“They were honoured in recognition of their contributions to promotion of bilateral ties between Nigeria and Niger Republic,’’ Sarki stated.

He added that Senate President, Alhaji Ahmad Lawan and other prominent personalities from Nigeria attended the event in Niamey.
