Police arrest suspected child trafficker in Abia

The Police Command in Abia says they have arrested a suspected child trafficker for allegedly kidnapping and transporting three girls to Ghana.

The news of the arrest was contained in a statement signed by the Abia Police PRO,

Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) announced the arrest in a statement in Aba.

Chinaka said officers from the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters arrested the suspect on Aug. 8.

The suspect (name withheld) is an indigene of Achara Isuochi in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State.

Chinaka stated that the parents of the victims provided the information that helped the Police effect the arrest.

“Onyekwere Christian (male) and Nneka Nwokoma (female), both from Achara and Amuda Isuochi, reported the missing of their daughters for over a week.

“They gave the names of the girls as Goodness Onyekwere, 15, Ezinwanne Onyekwere, 16 and Viviane Ndukwe,13.

“In response, the Police promptly initiated an investigation into the whereabouts of the missing girls.

“The effort led to the arrest of the suspect,” the PPRO stated.

She said the suspect, now in Police custody, had confessed to his involvement in the incident.

The suspect also allegedly admitted to having abducted the girls and transporting them to Ghana.
