The Police Command in Lagos, on Wednesday, said it prevented an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from going off in Ikeja.
TheNewsZenith reports that Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesman, confirmed the development in a statement.
The Police spokesman said the officer reported the attempted attack at the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) base, at Ikeja.
“Immediately, the Command’s Anti-Bomb squad stepped in to detonate the improvised explosive device.
He said an unidentified man, driving an unregistered Toyota Corolla car dropped the improvised explosive device, contained inside a bag in Ikeja.

“The said man reportedly came down from the vehicle and dropped the bag containing the IED.
“The officer said that a young man came down from the car and carefully dropped a bag by the fence of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit office, returned to the vehicle and zoomed off.
“Based on the report, the Command quickly mobilised a team of EOD-CBRN from the base to the scene to identify the object and render the same safe if confirmed to be IED.
“On arrival, the team discovered the object to be an IED.
“Subsequently, the team cordoned off the area and rendered the adopted IED safe. Thereater, the team took the object to a distance for detonation accordingly.
“Meanwhile, the residual of the IED was collected for further analysis and investigation,” TheNewsZenith quotes the statement as read in part.
