Sri Lanka’s inflation drops to 35% in April

Sri Lanka’s inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), dropped to 35.3 per cent in April, data showed on Friday.

In March, CCPI-based inflation was 50.3 per cent, the Department of Census and Statistics said in a press release.

The year-on-year inflation of the food group dropped to 30.6 per cent in April from 47.6 per cent in March.

Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation of the non-food group category dropped to 37.7 per cent from 51.7 per cent in March.

Sri Lanka’s inflation has been dropping steadily since September 2022, when the CCPI recorded inflation at 69.8 per cent. (Xinhua)
