Twitter users vote for Musk to step down as CEO

Billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk, has launched a Twitter poll asking users whether he should resign as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the social media platform.

The results of the poll turned out to be against him,
More than half of the 17.5 million users, who responded to Elon Musk’s poll on his potential resignation as Twitter CEO, appeared to vote yes when the poll closed on Monday.
The billionaire posted the poll on Sunday, pledging to “abide by the results”.
Appearing to comment on the early results that saw more than half of the respondents voting yes, Musk said in another tweet “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.”
In late October, Elon Musk finalised the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.
Founded in 2006, Twitter is a U.S. company with its headquarters in San Francisco, California.
Following the takeover, Musk changed the company’s day-to-day operations.

The changes included the termination of Twitter executives, who were responsible for the platform’s privacy.
They are those of cybersecurity and censorship as well as about two-thirds of Twitter’s employees.
Musk has said that a special council “with widely diverse viewpoints” would be set up to moderate the platform.
Before posting the poll regarding his potential stepping down as head of Twitter, Musk tweeted that, from now on, “there will be a vote for major policy changes” on the social media platform.
Earlier in the day, Twitter announced a new policy, banning users from linking to their accounts on other platforms.
It is not clear if Musk’s decision to post the poll was the result of that decision.
Twitter users promptly criticised the decision as soon as management announced it. (Sputnik)
