Lagos, July 29, ’26 (TNZ) Uyo Club, one of the most prominent recreational associations in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, recently inaugurated its full Executive Council to run its activities for the next two years.
TheNewZenith reports that the inauguration followed a bye-election conducted to fill all vacant positions in April.
The club president, Prof. Sahm Etuk, while inaugurating the executive council, charged the new members to bring their wealth of experience to the offices they are elected into.
According to Etuk, the members expect the new executive team not only to move the club forward, but also to impact society positively.
“We expect that you will make yourselves available at all times to offer the service required of you,” TheNewsZenith quotes Etuk as charging them.
TheNewZenith reports that those inaugurated include the current Executive Managing Consultant of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo, Samuel Enoh Akpan.
Akpan, a prominent member of the prestigious Nigerian Guild of Editors, emerged as the club’s Public Relations Officer among others.
Other executive members are: Barrister Eno Inyang-Treasurer; Anthony Etim-Social Secretary; and Christian Daniel-Welfare Secretary.
Joining the club’s leadership also include Barrister Friday Ekpa – Legal Adviser; Christian Chukwu – Provost; Mmenye Udofa – Assistant Secretary; Otu Otu – Maintenance Secretary and Macaulay Udom – Ex-Officio.
TheNewZenith recalls that Prof. Etuk, who is also currently the Director, School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo, was earlier inaugurated alongside the Vice President, Dr Nestor Udoh, a retired permanent secretary, on January 10.

Others inaugurated with them are the General Secretary – Barrister Ndi Aquaisua; Financial Secretary – TPL Dr Emmanuel Etuk; Auditor – Dr Imbur Terfa; and the General Games Captain – Dr Anietie Ekong.
The president also inaugurated the Board of Past Presidents, consisting of all former presidents who are alive.
He charged them to freely advise the Executive members on how to navigate out of difficult situations.
The club’s past presidents present at the event are Dr Emem Umoh, Dr Bassey Etuknwa, Engr. Mbosowo Orok, and Prof. Ini Jonah.
A member of the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Akparawa Ikpong Essien-Udom, is also a past president.
“With these inaugurations, the club is set to function fully with all the organs in place as stated in the club’s constitution,” TheNewZenith quotes the club president as saying.
He appealed to club members to work together to achieve the ideals of recreation, service and development.
The Uyo Club was founded in 1935 and has membership cut across every strata of society. (TNZ)
