Zambia’s annual inflation rises to 9.8% in November

Year-on-year inflation in Zambia rose to 9.8 per cent in November from 9.7 per cent the previous month, its statistics agency said on Thursday.

The Zambia Statistics Agency attributed the increase to an increase in prices of non-food items.

Such items include fuels and lubricants, charcoal and pharmaceutical products.

The agency said in its monthly press release that annual non-food inflation rose to 6.7 per cent in November from 6.5 per cent in October.

Also, food inflation was recorded at 12.1 per cent in November from 12.2 per cent in October.

Conversely, the month-on-month inflation also rose to 0.7 per cent in November from 0.2 per cent in October.

This is due to price increases in both food and non-food items.
