11 passengers burnt in Ore road crash

A road accident involving a trailer and a Marcopollo bus killed eleven passengers, on Sunday in Ore, Ondo State.

All the victims were passengers on the Marcopollo bus.

According to an eyewitness, the truck driver, who drove against traffic while on speed caused the accident.

The eyewitness said the truck rammed into the Marcopollo bus coming from the Benin axis.

“The trailer caused the accident as the driver drove through one-way speedily.

“At the Soka Bridge, the bus collided with the Marcopollo bus coming from Benin Road, thus sparking fire” she said.

The accident caused a traffic snarl on the Benin-Shagamu expressway.

It took the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) a while to clear.

Sikiru Alonge, the FRSC Unit Commander in Ore, confirmed that 11 passengers were burnt beyond recognition.

“Efforts are in top gear with other security agencies to remove crashed vehicles from the road,” Alonge said.
