Two fun-seekers have been drowned at the Baracuda beach in Abraham Adesanya area, Ajah Lagos State.
This is contained in a statement issued by Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to the statement, two adult male were trying to rescue an adult male from drowning in the high tide of the ocean.
Unfortunately the two rescuers drowned.
”Emergency responders from the Agency responded to distress calls from the scene of the incidence.
“On arrival at the scene, the rescuing team discovered that the two beach goers had drowned.
”The two men died during a failed rescue attempt of a third person.
“Life guard stationed at the beach said that the victims had ventured beyond the red line,” the statement read in part.
The statement, however, did not state if first man, survived or not.
It said that rescue team and paramedics are still at the scene as rescue operations are still ongoing.
The NewsZenith recalls that four secondary school students drowned in similar circumstances in August at a Lagos beach.
The students were among ten who went to the beach to celebrate after completing their final WAEC examination.
