8 die, 7 injure in lone accident in Bauchi

Eight persons died while seven others sustained injuries in a road accident, which occurred at Kili village on the Darazo-Kari Federal Highway on Thursday night.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi, Yusuf Abdullahi confirmed the accident on Friday.

In a press statement in Bauchi, Abdullahi said the accident involved grey Volkswagen Sharon mini-bus with vehicle registration number BCH-465-XA.

The bus belongs to the fleet of NURTW used for commercial purposes.

Abdullahi attributed the likely cause of the crash to a tyre burst when the bus was at top speed.

The bus carried 15 people before it crashed.

This comprised four male adults, six female adults, two male children and three female children.

He said his men have deposited the bodies of the deceased passengers were evacuated to the General Hospital, Darazo.
