Amotekun arrests suspected cultist, burglar in Osun

The Amotekun Corps in Osun State has arrested two persons suspected to be cultist and burglar in Osogbo and Ila-Orangun, Ila Local Government Area of Osun.

State Commander of the corps, retired Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi announced the arrest in a statement dated Aug. 4.

Adewinmbi said the operatives of the corps arrested the two suspects on Thursday.

“Our operatives arrest one Sodiq Adelabu, 20 in Osogbo for allegedly engaging in cult-related activities and theft.

“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

“The second suspect, Sunday Oluwasegun, 22, was arrested for breaking into a house and stealing in Ila-Orangun town,” he said.

Oluwasegun allegedly stole some money and home appliances before his arrest.

Adewinmbi said his men arrested both suspects after residents lodged complaints against them and their activities.

He advised residents to always report suspicious activities and criminal suspects, living among them, to security agents.

He assured that Amotekun would keep their identity secret and he encouraged them to join in the state’s fight against crime and criminality.
