Super Eagles Head Coach, Finidi George, formerly resumed duty, on Monday, after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced his appointment in Abuja.

The new Super Eagles gaffer has also picked five assistants. They are comprised of three foreign-based assistants and two Nigerians.

The Nigerians are Daniel Amokachi and Olatunji Baruwa, who will be goalkeeper trainers.

Sports Minister John Enoh and President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, were among the dignitaries at the unveiling ceremony.

George was previously an assistant to a former handler of the team, Jose Peseiro. He worked with Peseiro for 20 months.

The former Enyimba gaffer led the Super Eagles as a caretaker coach. He coached Super Eagles for the friendlies against the Black Stars of Ghana and Eagles of Mali in March.

His first game in charge of the African champions will be against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in June.

TheNewsZenith gathered that the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The Super Eagles will also be up against Squirrels of Benin, a few days later.

The three-time African champions sit in third position in Group C with two points from two games.

Rwanda occupies the top spot in the group with four points, while South Africa is second with three points.
