Sen. John Enoh, Sports Minister, on Monday, rallied the support of Nigerians and relevant stakeholders for the new Coach of Super Eagles,  Finidi George.

Enoh made the call while speaking at the unveiling of Finidi George as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles on Monday in Abuja.

TheNewsZenith reports that the minister remarked that Nigerians received the appointment of Finidi George well as being appropriate.

He expressed his confidence in George’s ability to take the Super Eagles to a new height.

For this to happen, Enoh said the new coach requires the support of all Nigerians to succeed.

According to him, with his appointment, Finidi George will back the liveliness and excitement of Nigerian Football.

The minister noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been supporting NFF. He added “we can’t afford to let him down”.

Earlier, NFF President, Dr Ibrahim Gusau, described George’s appointment as signalling a new dawn in the history of Nigerian Football.

Gusau said the appointment was in line with Nigerians’ clamour for an indigenous coach to handle the Super Eagles.

He explained that because of this yearning for indigenous coach, the federation directed the technical team to look inward and choose an indigenous coach for the national team.

Now that NFF has chosen indigenous coach, the president called on all Nigerians to support George to succeed.

He sought Nigerians’ support for the coach to lead the national team to glory. This is especially true as the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers are in sight.

Gusau assured that as a policy, NFF gave Finidi George a free hand to choose his technical staff.

He stressed that the assistants will be paid on a game-by-game basis. This is to avoid the crisis in the payment of allowances that had bedevilled the process in the past.

The NFF boss also assured that the Assistants would be entitled to bonuses and entitlements enjoyed by players and coaches.

Responding, George thanked NFF and Nigerians for entrusting him with the appointment.

He promised to put in his best in lifting Nigerian Football to the next level.
