“The team leader, Adeniyi, explained that the software provides an easy-to-use identification system that helps the security unit to monitor the activities in the library.

TouchNut provides an Intranet server that contains students’ information and comes with an intranet connection.

“Its server is secured, ensuring the security of students’ information and easy access on the internet,”. the statement read.

Also, library staff will not need to worry about the return of books on their expiration date.

“This is because the software would track the student’s card and notify the staff.”

He said students would use TouchNut identification software at three major units in the Library.

The first is the security unit as it helps them check people in and out of the Library.

Secondly, it will help the circulation unit to create user profiles for students, develop and assign cards.

Lastly, it would enable the Management Unit to have complete oversight of everything that happens in the Library.

“The Vice-Chancellor remarked, after the test run, the university authorities would deploy software in other areas, including campus shuttle transportation.

Professor Oladiji said FUTA was helping its students with product development, registration of their intellectual property and its commercialisation.
