G-Media studios’ animation gains international recognition

G-Media Studios, an Animation and Advertising studio, has announced the nomination of its short film, ‘Keffa The Curious Goat’, for three prestigious awards in the U.S.

Media Manager of the organisation, Sarafina Nyawira, announced in a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith at the weekend in Lagos.

The animation studio is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

It provides and produces some of Africa’s most original and inspiring content for clients and viewers around the world, using top-tier 2D and 3D content.

The studio dives deep into African cultures and stories.

Nyawira said the film has captivated audiences and judges alike, with its rich storytelling and cultural significance.

“The film had been nominated for best general animation film at the AfroAnimation Animation Summit’s third Annual Indie Short Animation Film Awards,” she said.

According to the Media Manager, the film was also recognised for its unique portrayal of Ethiopian folklore and contribution to black cultural heritage.

It was also listed “Best Animated Short” at the Queens Underground Black History International Film Festival. This is another category that recognised the short film.

“Keffa The Curious Goat was further recognised for Best Animation at the San Francisco Black Film Festival in the U.S.

“Recently, it also won a nomination for another award in Nigeria. That is “Best Animated Short Film in the Lifanima”.

“This accomplishment brings the animation to four nominations worldwide.

“G Media Studios, an animation studio is renowned for its innovative storytelling.

“It is, therefore, thrilled to announce that its short film, “Keffa The Curious Goat,” has been nominated for three prestigious awards in the United States.

“Kefas the Curious Goat is a story about the adventure of a curious and clever goat that pulls her herd and their herder, Kaldi, through a series of exciting adventures that lead to a pleasant discovery,” TheNewsZenith quotes Nyawira as stating.

This accomplishment brings the animation to four nominations worldwide, she added.

Mr Bereket Taffese, the creative force behind G-Media Studios, expressed delight over the team’s achievements.

According to Taffese, the nominations are a testament to the organisation’s dedication to creating high-quality and culturally resonant content.

“Our team’s recognition at these prestigious festivals validates our efforts and commitment to diversity in storytelling.

“Keffa The Curious Goat is currently not available for public viewing as it continues its festival circuit.

“But G-Media Studios plans to host a screening event and release the trailer soon.

“We developed the film entirely in-house, from script to screen, by a passionate team of Ethiopian artists.

“It represents a significant milestone in African animation and showcases the studio’s comprehensive capabilities,” he said.
