The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Usman Baba, has directed Commissioners of Police in States to conclude investigations in cases of violations against the Electoral Act swiftly concluded.
Baba gave the directive via a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi on Monday in Abuja.
He said such case files of violation during the Feb. 25 general elections must be forwarded to the INEC for prosecution.
“The IG has tasked Strategic Police Managers to engage stakeholders in their respective jurisdictions through town hall meetings and other viable avenues.

“This is in a bid to ensure all-inclusive election security management.
“It is also to accord Nigerians benefits of active participation, to achieve free, fair and credible elections on March 18, 2023,” the statement read in part.
“The Inspector-General of Police has, therefore, urged members of the public to collaborate with the Police to ensure a hitch-free security architecture.
“This is to enable all citizens can exercise their franchise without molestation, harassment and security threats.”
