Police repels gunmen attack in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra said its operatives have foiled an attack by gunmen on the Ogidi Police station in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced this to newsmen on Monday in Awka.

Ikenga said the police team neutralised one of the gunmen.

He said that gunmen came in two buses and three motorcycles, shooting sporadically in an attempt to gain access to the police station.

“And due to the superior gunfire of the operatives, the hoodlums fled the scene while they neutralised one of them.

“The police facility is intact and no casualty was recorded on the side of the Police,” the PPRO said.

He explained that The command had deployed a reinforcement of police tactical teams to reinforce security in the area.

On tup-coming elections, Ikenga assured residents of the command’s readiness to mount mounted surveillance to ensure peaceful poll in the state.

He urged residents to support the command with vital information to aid effective security across the state.
