INEC says elections not holding in 240 polling units

The Commission Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, announced this at a meeting with political party leaders in Abuja on Monday.

Yakubu said the affected polling units had no voter register.

The number of affected polling units range from one in Edo, Kwara, Rivers and Zamfara to 38 in Imo.

He said Imo has the highest number of polling units without voter register.

The INEC boss, however said elections would hold in 176,606 polling units across the nation

The election umpire warned that it will not accept a situation where two or more agents report for one party at the polling units.

Multiple agents for a party, he said, can cause confusion.

Any agent found engaged in such act would be arrested and prosecuted, Yakubu said.
