The Muslim Parents Forum of the University of Ibadan, International School, Ibadan (UI-ISI), has advised Hijab-wearing female Muslim students to excel in their studies and be good ambassadors of Islam.

The Chairman of the Forum, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, gave the advice on Saturday in Ibadan.

Chairman of the Parent Forum, AbdurRahman Balogun speaking during the distribution of free Hijab to UI-ISI female Muslim students on Saturday in Ibadan.

He said that that was “the pathway to reaching the peak of their chosen careers”.

TheNewsZenith reports that Balogun gave the advice during the first phase of Hijab distribution to over 100 female Muslim students of the school at the UI Central Mosque, Ibadan.

He said the Hijab has come to stay as part of the school uniform.

This is following the May 23 Oyo State High Court judgement.

The judgement allows any willing Muslim girl to freely adorn the hijab on their uniform.

Balogun stressed that the Forum is committed to giving all willing female Muslim students a Hijab to exercise their freedom of religion.

“We have asked mothers of some students, who are wearing Hijab, to counsel and encourage them.

“The Hijab would not stop them from attaining whatever position,” he said.

Also speaking, one of the parents, Prof. Rahman Akinoso urged the students to be good ambassadors of Islam.

Akinoso charged the students to strive for excellence in their studies.

Another parent, Dr Kafayat Adebayo, advised the students to follow all the tenets of the Hijab by being morally upright, modest and respectful.

“Try to be neat and do not plait extravagant hairstyles or hide weird earrings under the Hijab,” she counselled.
