A renowned cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi has advised the Kano State Government and interested parties in the Kano Emirate tussle to respect the rule of law.

Dahiru, the Chairman of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, gave the advice at a press conference, on Sunday, in Bauchi.

Sheikh Dairu said the advice became necessary to avoid the chaotic situation in the ancient City of Kano.

“In the interest of peace, we want justice to prevail. Since the Court has intervened to maintain, we expect each party to respect the rule of law in the interest of peace.

The Cleric faulted the Kano State Government’s decision to continue the process of appointing the 16th Emir and dethroning five emirs despite the court injunction.

He also advised both Emirs, in the interest of peace and brotherhood, to prevent shedding the blood of innocent souls.

“They should allow peace and stability to reign,” Sheikh Ibrahim said.

He said Sanusi was dethroned by former Gov. Ganduje but today, Gov. Abba Yusuf re-appointed him because people prayed for his return.

“However, there is nothing wrong if Sanusi will emulate Sayyidina Hassan, grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon), who left power to Mu’awiyyah in the interest of peace and brotherhood among the Muslim Ummah,” the Cleric said.

He urged the National Assembly to amend the constitution by making laws that protect traditional rulers from the politicians.

Politicians, he observed, used their power to appoint and dethrone traditional rulers at their pleasure.

The chairman urged the government, two parties and the people of Kano not to be in haste but to follow due process and abide by whatever the Court verdict.
