Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State says his administration has intervened in more than 1,600 road rehabilitations across the state in the last four years.
Sanwo-Olu announced this during the inauguration of Adeniji Adele and Tapa Street roads in Lagos Island Local Government on Friday in Lagos Island.
He said his administration would continue to do its best for residents.
“In road construction in Lagos in the past four years, we have intervened in over 1,600 roads.
“We have added about 141 new constructions with a total length of 700 kilometres.
“We are happy that we are following our master plan, as enshrined in our THEMES agenda.
“Today, the train for the commissioning of infrastructural projects has arrived on Lagos Island
“This is part of the Lagos Island Area North Action Plan, to regenerate the Island.
“Also, in a bid to support businesses and promote economic development, we instituted an infrastructure renewal and upgrade project for Lagos Island.
“We decided to start the renewal effort with the construction and upgrading of two strategic roads, which are: Adeniji Adele Road and Tapa Street,” the governor said.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Works and Infrastructure, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye, said that Lagos Island was one of the largest commercial corridors.
Adeyoye pointed out that the island has a high volume of human and vehicular traffic.
She said it has a poor drainage system, causing rapid road degradation.
The Special Adviser said the government undertook the project as part of its infrastructural renewal and to upgrade the entirety of Lagos Island to alleviate challenges.
“Before reconstruction, Adeniji Adele Road was a two-lane single carriageway of about 2.234 km, while Tapa Street was about 600m.
“Presently, we have reconstructed and upgraded the 2.47km road with a carriage width of 12m to a semi-rigid pavement.
“We reinforced the concrete drains, culverts, median barriers, transverse and longitudinal service ducts.
“The government also installed Low-Emission Diode-powered street lighting,” she said.
Mr Muibi Folawiyo, the Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, thanked the state government for the intervention.
