Lagos State University of Education Sports’ Director, Dr Adeniyi Jimmy, says students of the university are ready for any sports competitions within and outside Nigeria.
TheNewsZenith reports that the director gave the assurance at a games competition between the two campuses of the university – Ijanikin and Epe – earlier in the week.
Jimmy said LASUED had been exposing its students to sports competitions such as the West Africa University Games.
“At the last West Africa University Games held at the Obafemi Awolowo University, three of our students represented the institution and won four medals.
“This month, we registered our students for the coming FASU Games slated for at Lagos State University and the University of Lagos. The Games will start from Sept. 20,” he said.
The director said that Monday’s competition was between NCE students and undergraduates of the institution.
“Our institution has transmuted from college of education to university.
“The students are participating in different games such as football, basketball, scramble, chess, volleyball, badminton, judo and taekwondo.
“The management supported with more coaches and equipment. Currently, our sports centre is undergoing a facelift. This has been motivating the students.
“Recently, Lagos State Trust Fund gave us some games equipment, which has enhanced sports development in the university,” TheNewsZenith quotes Jimmy as saying.
