Abuja, March 15, ’25 (TNZ) The Labour Party (LP) leadership has constituted a three-man truce committee to mend the relationship with its members in the National Assembly.
TheNewsZenith reports that the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Obiora Ifoh, announced this in a statement in Abuja.
Ifoh said this is part of the ongoing efforts to engender an enduring harmony in the party.
Mr Ben Etanabene is the committee chairman with Mathew Nworgu and Chinedu Obika as members.
While inaugurating the committee, the party’s National Chairman, Mr Julius Abure urged members to liaise with the LP legislators in both chambers of the national assembly.
This is intended to identify and resolve all differences between them and the party.
“We entrust you with this important assignment of bringing together all our members in the national assembly, both in the Senate and House of Representatives.
“This is to bridge the gaps and resolve all existing issues.

“There is a need for all our members to be on the same page with the party leadership.
“You are our ambassadors at the national assembly and we are proud of some of you and the values you are exhibiting.
“But we think there are still some gaps to plug, hence the urgency for this assignment,’’ TheNewsZenith quotes Abure as saying.
Responding, Etanabene pledged that the committee would take the assignment seriously.
TheNewsZenith recall that some LP members in the national assembly recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Four LP legislators in the House of Representatives in one sitting, defected to APC, citing the crisis in the party as reason for their action.
They are Akiba Bassey (Calabar Municipal/Odukpani), Chinedu Okere (Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West), Esosa Iyawe (Oredo) and Mathew Donatus (Kaura). (TNZ)
