A 39-year-old man, Chibuike Ajunwa, was on Wednesday, remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, SP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that Ajunwa, who lives in Igando, Lagos defiled the seven-year-old girl.
Ajayi said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 27 and is punishable under Section 210(8) of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State, 2015.
TheNewsZenith reports that the defendant is liable to life imprisonment if found guilty of the offence.

The Ikeja Chief Magistrate, E. Kubeinje, who presided, did not take the plea of Ajunwa.
Kubeinje ordered that the defendant be remanded, pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
He then adjourned the case until April 17 for mention.
