Muslim community lays foundation of Kabba Central Mosque

The Kabba Muslim Community in Kogi State, on Monday, laid the foundation of a 5,000-seater capacity ultra-modern Central Mosque worth N1 billion.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashir Imam-Solihu, laid the foundation of the mosque.

Imam-Solihu congratulated the Kabba Muslim community for the initiative and the progress made so far.

“Building the mosque is a work of God and Allah will reward the partakers,” he said.

The cleric urged the Muslim faithful to contribute generously towards the project. He also offered prayers for the overall development of the community and the successful completion of the project.

Chairman of the Muslim Community, Alhaji Kabir Fadile, said the project aims to bring all Muslims under one centre.

Fadile said when completed, Muslims could worship comfortably and expand their knowledge of Islam at the centre.

“The environment here is mainly dominated by Christians. So, the few Muslims here have come together to develop this spiritual centre to improve our religion.

“Islam is a way of life. And Muslims in this area should be able to worship and expand their knowledge of Islam.

“By the time we lay the foundation, we are targeting about 5,000-seater capacity centre for worshippers at a stretch,” Fadile said.

He called on all and sundry to be partakers in the project.

“I urge every one of us to use our contacts to attract contributions towards the completion of the project.”

The chairman commended the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, for supporting the Muslim community in the area since his ascension to the throne.

According to him, the paramount ruler has supported the Muslim faithful and ensured inter-religious harmony in his domain.

In his remarks, Oba Owoniyi, commended the Muslim community for the initiative, expressing the desire to see development in all areas of his domain.

Owoniyi, who doubles as the Chairman of the Okun Area Traditional Council, prayed that the Mosque would be completed in his time.

He urged the people to encourage their children to acquire an education to become great in life.
