NDLEA charges teenager to court over alleged drug trafficking

By Our Correspondent

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Friday, charged a 19-year-old unemployed man, Abdullahi Aliyu before a Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged drug trafficking.

In a five-count charge, bordering on illegal peddling of restricted narcotics, the NDLEA Counsel, Mr Lambert Nor, alleged that Aliyu committed the offence on Oct. 13.

According to the counsel, the suspect committed the offence at the Alaba Rago market area of Ojo, Lagos.

He alleged that the suspect was caught with 1.2kg of Tramadol, 32g of Rophynol and two kilogrammes of Diazepam.

The counsel said the agency categorises the drugs as restricted narcotics and prohibited under the NDLEA Act.

The offence, it said, contravened the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act Caps N30 Law of the Federation 2004.

The act provides a penalty of life imprisonment if convicted of the offence.

The Court is yet to fix a date for the suspect’s arraignment.
