The Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps (NAOC) has sought a partnership with the Yaba College of Technology in the areas of polymer, textile and printing for the Corps.
NAOC Commander, Maj.-Gen. Jonathan Ugwuoke, struck the deal during a courtesy visit to the College, last week in Lagos.
TheNewsZenith reports that the partnership entails that the college will print the Nigerian Army forms, school notebooks and exercise books for the Army primary and secondary schools for NAOC.
Ugwuoke said NAOC has the responsibility of providing technical support to the defence forces. The support covers areas of procurement, storage and distribution of army uniforms.
According to him, NAOC also engages in inspection, maintenance, repair and disposal of all items of Nigerian Army-related equipment.
“For quality assurance and sustenance of the army uniforms’ standard, NAOC looks inward to source materials locally produced by indigenous manufacturers for supply.
“This hopefully will boost the nation’s economy,” the Commander said.
He said NAOC often send samples of materials to the College’s Polymer and Textile Department for quality control.
“Result from such guides the Corps in awarding the contract for supplies.”
He said: “NAOC is seeking partnership with YabaTech to supply uniforms of the Nigerian Army all over the federation”.

According to him, the Nigerian Army has endorsed the College as the quality of its items meets the set standard.
Ugwuoke said he looks forward to having a robust relationship with the 77-year-old institution.
“We know YabaTech for quality education; provision of first-rate academic, professional and entrepreneurial education for the positive impact in the nation’s technological and socio-economic development.
“The College is also known for bridging the gap between the town and gown.”
Responding, the College Rector, Dr Ibraheem Abdul noted that the institution has the mandate for “collaboration and interaction with industries and relevant organisations within and outside the country.
Deputy Rector Administration, Mr Uduak Iyang-Udoh, received the Commandant on behalf of the Rector said the College grooms its graduates to become relevant both at home and abroad.
“We prepare them for the industries and our hands are wide open for more partnership. And we are enthusiastic to sustain the beneficial relationships with our partners,” Abdul said.
He thanked NAOC for the initiative to partner with the College. “This is another avenue to boost our internally generated revenue”.
The Rector assured the Commandant and his team that the relationship would be sustained.
