The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has commended Epe residents for turning out en-mass in the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
The NewsZenith reports that the deputy governor and his wife, Oluremi, cast their votes by 9.43 a.m. at Polling Unit-002, Ward A4, at Oke Balogun area, Epe.
Addressing newsmen after voting, Hamzat described the conduct of the election as better than the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to him, reports from other polling units and wards within the local government were positive.
“The turn out was better than what we experienced in the last presidential election with a calm ambience,” he said.
“It was smooth and seamless, as it took me a few minutes to cast my vote.
“In most of the pooling units around Epe, INEC officials and materials arrived early.
“In my polling unit, it took me less than 10 seconds for BVAS to accredit me.
“And I cast my vote immediately, which is better than the last elections,’’ Hamzat said.

On his expectations after polls, the deputy governor said confidently that the ruling will win the election.
Meanwhile, at Polling Unit04, Ward-H1, Eredo, Mr Lanre Odubote, expressed satisfaction with the high turnout of voters across Epe Division.
Odubotea, former federal lawmaker, also commended the peaceful voting exercise across Lagos state.
“We have not recorded any violence across the state at the ongoing voting exercise.
“This shows the civility, readiness and willingness of voters to cast their ballots for their preferred candidates,” he said.
Similarly, a voter at WardA4, unit001 in Oke-Balogun area, Mr Tunde Seriki, expressed confidence that APC would win the election.
Seriki, who was a Lagos Civil Service Commissioner, urged residents, who have voted, to go and canvass others to come out en mass to vote.
The NewsZenith reports that there was a massive turnout of the electorate compared to that of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
