NUC upgrades Adeyemi COE to Varsity

Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo team at NUC headquarters to receive Varsity courses approval

The National Universities Commission (NUC) may have finally upgraded the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo into a full-fledged University, allowing it to run 25 degree courses.

TheNewsZenith reports that Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Dr Samuel Akintunde, announced the NUC’s course approval in a statement.

Akintunde posted the statement on the institution’s verified Facebook account on Sunday evening.

“NUC has approved Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, to undertake 25 Academic programmes.

“This is with effect from 2023/2024 Academic Sessions,” the statement read in part.

“Officials from the NUC and a team of experts from various tertiary institutions across the country, recently came to the University to undertake a Resource Verification Exercise.

“During the visit, several courses were assessed in the Arts, Education, Social Sciences, Science and Vocational and Technical Education in the Institution.”

Akintunde expressed delight over the development.

“Sincerely, I thank you all for your dedication to the realisation of the great dream of serving in a university, called Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo,” he said.

The Chairman of the University Transition Committee, Dr A. O. Olajuyigbe, Acting Registrar, Mrs O. O. Fakorede and a reputable Alumnus of the University, Amb. Godson Echegile among others, were present at the NUC headquarters in Abuja to receive the approval letter.
