An NGO, the Sterling One Foundation has reiterated its commitment to protecting the ozone layer as a critical part of its broader climate action efforts.

This is in recognition of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

These, it stated, are part of the drive to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Ozone preservation is pivotal in safeguarding ecosystems and human health by reducing harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV contributes to environmental degradation and health risks.

As part of its core focus on climate action, the Foundation said it would continue to prioritise initiatives to mitigate these risks.

It also pledged commitments towards promoting sustainable development.

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO of Sterling One Foundation, stressed the importance of ozone layer protection within the organisation’s overall climate action strategy.

“Protecting the ozone layer is essential to securing the future health and well-being of both our environment and communities.

“We will also promote sustainable practices for generations to come,” Ibekwe said.

She further noted that efforts to protect the ozone layer are deeply interconnected with the global climate agenda.

“Climate action is a collective responsibility. And we must continue to work together across sectors to ensure that the steps we take today preserve the planet for tomorrow.

“We are committed to driving this action through our initiatives and partnerships, in alignment with global goals,” sh added.

TheNewsZenith recall that the Foundation has been a leading advocate for climate action through multi-stakeholder initiatives.

It is equally promoting sustainable practices that help reduce environmental impacts.

The Foundation’s projects focus on critical areas such as reducing plastic pollution, which contributes to environmental degradation and exacerbates ozone layer depletion.
