A senior Somali intelligence officer died in a bomb blast on Friday at Gedo region in the southern part of the country, local officials confirmed.
Authorities are investigating the killing of the senior intelligence officer.
The officer had been leading operations against terror groups in Jubaland State, Yusuf Hussein Osman, security minister of Jubaland said.
Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the bombing Friday.
It has intensified attacks on security officers in southern Somalia. (Xinhua)
