TMC returns principal officers for another 5-year tenure

Confirms Olusesi, Folarin, others as Wali across Nigeria

Odosengolu (Ogun), Dec. 28, ’25 (TNZ) The Muslim Congress (TMC), on Sunday returned its National Amir (President), Alhaji Abdulwasi‘i Taiwo Bangbala, and Secretary General, Alhaji Adesina Taiwo Hassan, for a second term of five years.

TheNewsZenith reports that the duo were re-elected through a Shūrā (consultative) process, in line with the provisions of the organisation’s constitution.

They were presented to the National Congress of the organistion at the close of the 32nd Annual National Congress of The Muslim Congress, held at Vanguards Academy, Odosengolu, Ogun State, on Sunday.

This process followed extensive consultations across the organisation.

TheNewsZenith reports that the return of the duo is a demonstration of the confidence of members and stakeholders in their leadership capacity and commitment to Islamic principles.

Meanwhile, the Congress also affirmed the TMC National Executives’ Cabinet and approved the appointment of State Executive Officers across several states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration, coordination and da‘wah activities nationwide of TMC.

Confirms appointment of Wali, Secretaries across Nigeria

TheNewsZenith reports that the Congress ratified the Surah’s enforcement of Alhaji Tajudeen Olusesi and Muilli Igbalajobi as Wali and Secretary for Lagos State, the re state leadership across the federation. In Lagos State.

In Ogun State, Dr Jamiu Folarin took over from Dr Abdulrazaq Ogunmoye as the new Wali and Dr Sulaiman Adebisi as Secretary. Also in Oyo State, Mallam Idris Muhammad emerged as Wali, with Mallam Daud Soliu serving as Secretary.

Similarly, Mallam Abdul-Majeed Adebayo emerged as Wali in Ondo State, with Mallam Taofeek Olutayo as Secretary.

Alhaji Mutairu Ismail Kashimawo (aka Aafa Saudi) was returned as the Wali for Edo alongside Barrister Al-Hassan Abu as Secretary.

In Osun State,  Mallam Iyiola Oyedeji is the Wali while Mallam Ismail Adeleke became the Secretary, and in Kwara State Dr Sulaiman Zakariyah leads with Mallam Abdul-Lateef Onafuye as Secretary.

In the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Engr. Monsuru Adewale was appointed Wali, alongside Engr. Abdul-Sobru Oliyide as Secretary, while Niger State has Dr Saheed Sanni emergedbas Wali, with Mallam Muyideen Abdul-Raheem serving as Secretary.

Stakeholders urge members to embrace sacrifice, purposeful leadership

Meanwhile, some stakeholders, mostly past leaders of TMC, admonished members to embrace sacrifice and cooperate with the new leaders for a purposeful efficient service delivery.

Speaking at the congress, the former and first Amir of TMC,

Alhaji AbdurRazaq Awayewaserere AbduSalam, who is pioneer Amir of TMC spoke on meaningful growth in membership, which requires commitment, sacrifice and purposeful engagement.

AbdusSalam noted that laziness has no place in the pursuit of progress. He urged members to remain focused, prepared, determined, and steadfast while placing full trust in Allah.

In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Amir expressed profound gratitude to Allah (SWT), the Congress and its members for the renewed confidence reposed in his leadership.

Bangbala reaffirmed his commitment to steering the organisation with integrity, dedication and strict adherence to Islamic principles.

“I humbly accept this renewed mandate and pledge to work tirelessly with my executive team, state officers and all members to strengthen The Muslim Congress at every level.

“We must continue to uphold justice, promote knowledge and ensure that our collective efforts contribute to the growth, unity and positive impact of the organisation in our communities and the nation at large,” TheNewsZenith quotes him saying.  (TNZ)
