Tunisian security seized 300kg of cannabis resin and 25,000 psychotropic tablets in the eastern province of Sousse, private radio station Mosaique FM reported on Sunday.

Security seized “a large sum of money, 8 billion dinars (around $2.5 billion). They also seized cars and jewellery during this operation,” Mosaique FM quoted Fakher Bouzghaia, spokesperson for the Interior Ministry.

Bouzghaia specified that nine people belonging to a global network active in Arab countries, and two other Europeans, were arrested.

“After consultation with the prosecution, charges relating to drug trafficking and money laundering have been formulated,” said the spokesman, noting that this network launders its funds in real estate. (Xinhua)
