Algeria, on Sunday, began its third general agricultural census, a critical measure to develop agricultural policies aimed at enhancing the country’s food security, an agricultural official said.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hamid Bensaad, announced the census, which will run until July 17.
The ministry has mobilised 7,449 enumerators, controllers and supervisors to conduct the census.
They will also compile a comprehensive report on agricultural operations nationwide, the official APS news agency reported.

It would also be useful to international bodies that focus on sustainable development goals, according to the report.
