Key into Gov. Eno’s ARISE Agenda – AFAN tells farmers

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has advised its members in Akwa Ibom State to key into the Gov. Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

The State Chairman of the association, Prince Bassey Inwang, said the advice necessary to ensure food security in the state.

Samuel Enoh Akpan, AFAN’s Head Media quoted the chairman in a statement, as advising on a one-day training for farmers in Uyo.

Prince Inwang said that the training session ”is one of the numerous ways the association helps farmers in the state”.

”This is to improve productivity by bringing farmers up to date with current trends in Agriculture,” the statement mailed to TheNewsZenith read in part.

AFAN boss said over 100 farmers participated in the training covering various areas of agriculture.

These include upland rice and oil palm cultivation, maintenance, harvesting and processing, yam miniset cultivation and organic pesticide powder production.

Others are liquid herbicide/pesticide production, cucumber, tomato cultivation and farm maintenance.

Participants also received training on harvesting and marketing, review on orange-fleshed potato cultivation and mortality reduction in organic poultry production.

Accomplished practical farmers, including Mrs Martina Umanah, Messrs Sylvester Edem, Boniface Udom, Alphonsus Nyong and Dr Susan Nelson among others served as resource facilitators at the programme.

The training sessions also included practical demonstration.
