Nigeria’s largest container terminal, the APM Terminals Apapa hosted its first-ever talent show to celebrate the diverse talents of its employees beyond their routine duties.

TheNewsZenith reports that the theme of the ‘APM Terminal Got Talent show is “Lifting Industry Talents,”. It took place on Tuesday at the Lagos Port Complex Apapa.

The show brought together employees from various departments, showcasing their skills.

steen Knudsen, the Apapa Terminal Manager, expressed pride in the creativity and versatility of the employees.

“We are celebrating our staff for their creativity and skills through performances.

“APM Terminals is committed to delivering for our customers, and it is equally important to recognise the amazing people who make that possible.

“Today, we celebrate both our employees and contractors, as an amazing family.

“This event highlights the energy and passion the employees bring to work every day.

“They are creating a fun and engaging workplace,” TheNewsZenith quotes Knudsen as saying.

He described the APM terminal as a major gateway for trade in West Africa.

According to him, the terminal is handling a significant portion of the country’s import and export cargo.

Knudsen noted that since it commenced operations in 2006, APM Terminals Apapa had contributed significantly to the economic growth of Nigeria by improving port efficiency and capacity.

He said the terminal has a culture of safety, sustainability and employee development. It is creating a workplace culture that promotes innovation and operational excellence.

The Employee Relations Manager of the Terminal, Mr Ben Nwangwu, remarked that the talent show would boost workers’ morale and strengthen bonds among them.

Nwangwu explained that management is contemplating making the show, an annual event to encourage staff towards exploring their creative interests.

The Head of People Function of  APM Terminals Nigeria, Uzoma Ben-Ude, said the show held three rounds with 15 contestants.

The contest was narrowed down to five finalists before organisers selected the top three winners.

Ben-Ude said the terminal management rewarded nine contestants for their efforts. She added that the company’s commitment to work-life balance extended beyond regular duties.

She said the show provided opportunities for employees to recharge their energy and refocus.

“This initiative ensures our employees return to work energised and motivated.

“The show featured a wide array of performances, including acting, singing, instrumental music, and dynamic dance routines.
