Buhari says May 29 handover sacrosanct

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to hand over leadership to an elected president on May 29, 2023.

Buhari said that his term in office would end on that day in line with the Constitution.

The President made the remarks when he hosted the Special Envoy of King Mohammed the VI of Morocco, Shakib Ben Musa on Monday in Abuja.

The NewsZenith reports that Musa is the Minister of National Education, Pre-School and Sports of the Kingdom of Morocco.

According to Buhari, his term of office will end with the inauguration of a new President in May next year.

The President said he would study the message sent by the Moroccan King and respond accordingly.

He pledged to continue to cherish and strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Musa was accompanied by Moha Ou Ali Tagma, the Resident Representative of the Kingdom in Nigeria.

He reiterated the friendship and solidarity of the King, the government and the people of Morocco with Nigeria.
