Suspects narrate how they attempt to kidnap Niger Senator

Four suspects, arrested for allegedly invading the residence of Senator Sani Musa (Niger East), have confessed they planned to kidnap him.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, announced this in a statement on Monday in Minna.

The NewsZenith reports that one of the suspects said the gang claimed to be a task force and illegally invaded the residence of the senator in Minna.

Wasiu stated that additional information emerged in the course of the investigation that the gang intended to kidnap the senator.

They thought the Senator would be at home having attended the coronation ceremony of the Emir of Kagara that Saturday.

“Niger State Police Command wishes to state that additional facts emerged in the course of the investigation.
“One of the suspects confessed that his gang, led by the said Sherrif, presently at large, targeted the senator at his Minna home.

“The hoodlums suspected that he could be at home, having attended a coronation at Kagara same date,” he said.

Unfortunately for them, the lawmaker was not at home, but they broke into his house and ransacked it.

Wasiu said the investigation was in progress, assuring of Police efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.

He added that further development will be made public.
