Three Nigerian ministers have assured Nigerians in Diaspora of the Federal Government resolve to overhaul the nation’s economy to restore its glory globally.
They are Ministers of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa; , Sports Development, John Enoh and Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The ministers spoke at the sixth Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), on Tuesday, in Abuja.
TheNewsZenith reports that the theme of the event “New vista, New Aspirations, New Vision: The Diaspora and National Development”.
Speaking, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, who formally inaugurated the Diaspora Housing Mortgage Scheme, said the initiative aim is at tackling housing deficit for Nigerians in Diaspora.
According to him, the ministry would sustain collaboration and partnership to maintain engagement with relevant stakeholders in the housing sector.
“Nigerians in Diaspora should take full advantage of opportunities in the scheme. In it, they are able to actualise dreams of affordable homes in the country of origin.
“I hope Diaspora community will take advantage of the initiative and subscribe to the long term and short term.”
Also speaking, Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, assures of government resolve to overhaul the sports. According to him, sport is a veritable platform to enable the country achieve set targets.
“In every thriving country, at least a Nigerian is involved, Nigerians in Diaspora are highly commendable as the most patriotic.

“This is amidst several challenges they face. Therefore, we have a sole responsibility to develop sports in Nigeria. Sports have power to unite and transform more people than every other sector,” Enoh said.
On his part, Dr Tunji-Ojo of Interior Ministry promised to tackle hitches surrounding International Passport registration processes.
According to him, such would ensure Nigerians process their passport as soon as possible and collect same without stress.
“We will not relent, until it becomes as seamless as possible. For us, having only one passport office in Canada is not acceptable. We will decentralise it.
“We must improve service delivery by taking passport to the people and not people running to office, before December we are changing the whole dynamics.
“When it comes to passport application process, either in Nigeria or in diaspora, is just going to be biometrics and that is all,” Tunji-Ojo said.
Meanwhile, NiDCOM Chairman, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, called for collaborative support from Nigerians in Diaspora to achieve more meaningful growth.
“We are blessed in areas of in medicine, engineering, education and other sectors in every parts of the world that we are excelling. Why can’t we translates this back in Nigeria?
“There is a frame of potential in Nigerians in Diaspora. So, I am glad we have been able to do everything in that regard,” she said.
