The Kwara State Government, on Tuesday, began to sealing off quarry sites operating without valid documents to operate in the state.
The Acting Chairman of State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), Mr Abdulkareem Sulyman, led a government team to observe activities at some of the quarry sites.
TheNewsZenith reports that the team visited sites around Eyenkorin in the Asa Local Government Area of the state. This is an area where the business is at its peak.
Team members said they saw several trucks on sight loading laterites and other stones.
Sulayman told newsmen after the visit that the inspection was in a bid to rid the state of illegal business outfits.
“This exercise became necessary as part of KWGIS responsibilities to control the activities of quarries in the state.
“It is also aimed at ensuring that the business is run within the government purview.
“We discovered that activities of some companies were causing damages to our land, through their kind of business.

The KWGIS boss justified the team’s motive of the visit.
“The team left instruction that the affected companies should report to its office with all necessary papers that permitted them to operate.”
Sulayman, however, warned perpetrators that the government would no longer allow illegal quarry operations in the state.
“There will be consequences, if we catch them.”
